    Guide for Authors

Citation: Guide for Authors[J]. Journal of Electronic Science and Technology, 2023, 21(1): GFA-1-GFA-3.
    • Journal of Electronic Science and Technology (JEST) is published quarterly. All original contributions are welcomed, which relate advances or state-of-the-art achievements in electronic science and technology, including communications systems and networks, signal processing, information and image processing, circuits and systems, microelectronics, electronic devices and materials, computer science, microwave technology, physical electronics, optoelectronics, mechatronics, control and automation, bioelectronics and biomedicine, e-commerce and e-administration, and new applications of electronics.

Submission of a manuscript amounts to assurance that it has not been copyrighted, published or accepted for publication elsewhere, that it is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere, and that it will not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration. All manuscripts should be prepared following the “Manuscript Submission Guidelines” below. Prospective authors are urged to read this and follow its recommendations on the organization of their manuscript.

      Manuscript Submission Guidelines

Submission: Manuscripts should be specially prepared for publication in JEST and submitted electronically by the online submission system via https://www.editorialmanager.com/jnlest/default2.aspx. To ensure rapid communications, authors should include full post address, telephone and e-mail address. Authors should allow approximately 8 weeks for the initial review cycle.

Submission format: The acceptable manuscripts should be prepared in MS Word using the JEST template (A4 sheet). The format of the template is in single-column with figures and tables included within the text or at the end of the manuscript. Texts use a 10-point font single spaced. The complete template is available at: https://www.keaipublishing.com/en/journals/journal-of-electronic-science-and-technology/. Note that computer notation, powers of ten, special macros created by authors, etc. (e.g., x**2, 1.E-10), is not acceptable. The style for equations, references, abbreviations, figure captions, etc., should exactly match the standard JEST format.

Manuscript length: There is no limits for the lengths of all full manuscripts. But authors are encouraged to emphasize their original innovation, especially for the research articles.

Full manuscript: A complete manuscript must include title; names of authors and their complete contact information; abstract; keywords, text; all images, figures and tables; references; and brief introduction to all authors. Every manuscript must (a) provide a clearly defined statement of the problem being addressed, (b) state why it is important to solve the problem, and (c) give author’s original and significant contributions to the problem.

Title and abstract: The first page of the manuscript shall contain the paper title, full names of authors (given names followed by surname in capital) and contact information for all authors (full mailing address: institutional affiliations, city, zip code, country), the abstract, and the keywords. An abstract should have about 120 words and cover the following points: Statement of problem, assumptions and methods of solutions, results and conclusion or discussion of the importance of the results. Indexing keywords are mandatory and must be included with all manuscripts published in JEST. Please choose approximately 4 to 8 keywords which describe the major points or topics covered in your article. These will make the paper, by itself, a useful tool for information retrieval.

Figures and tables: Each figure and table should have a caption to concisely and intelligibly illustrate the contents of it. Figures/tables may be worked into the text or placed at the end of the manuscript. To conserve space in the publication, most figures/tables are reduced to single-column width if possible. This may result in as much as a 4:1 reduction from the original. Therefore, figures/tables should be kept to a minimum in original and be easily viewed on published pages. In the finalized sizes of figures/tables, authors are advised to make sure that:

Lines in the figures are in 0.75 pounds and arrows in the minimum.

Trigram tables are suggested, all the three lines are single lines and in 0.75 pounds.

Captions of figures and tables are in 9-point font and texts in figures in 8-point font.

Abbreviations: JEST follows the widely used standards on units and abbreviations. It is required to use abbreviations after their full texts are given in the first.

Mathematics: All mathematical expressions must be legible. It is advised to edit mathematical expressions by the MathType. Do not give derivations that are easily found in the literature; merely cite the reference.

References: All references should be archived materials such as journal articles, books, and conference proceedings. Web pages are not recommended, since their content and accessibility may change over time. Personal communications and unpublished data are not acceptable references. The references published in non-English must be translated into English. The standard reference format and examples are given below.

      Requirements for Publication

Once the manuscript is accepted by JEST, author should acknowledge that they accept the rules established for publication of manuscripts, including copyright, security permission, technical responsibility, and other requirements for publication. Responsibility for contents of contributions rests upon the authors and not upon the Editorial Board of JEST or its reviewers.

      Open access

The peer-reviewed research articles appearing in JEST will be published open access. This means that the article is universally and freely accessible via the internet in perpetuity, in an easily readable format immediately after publication. To provide open access, JEST has an open access fee (also known as an Article Processing Charge, APC) which needs to be paid by the authors or on their behalf e.g. by their research funder or institution. The open access publication fee for JEST is USD 1000, plus taxes. All APCs for articles submitted to JEST before 31-12-2023 will be fully waived. A CC user license manages the reuse of the article. All articles will be published under the following license:

      Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs (CC BY-NC-ND)

For non-commercial purposes, lets others distribute and copy the article, and to include in a collective work (such as an anthology), as long as they credit the author(s) and provided they do not alter or modify the article.

    • The authors declare no conflicts of interest.
